Dear Reader,
Our Substack is now three months old. I’m very gratified by the several thousand of you who have subscribed or followed in such a short period of time. That suggests that you find what I write illuminating and thought-provoking, which is very encouraging.
Naturally, paying subscribers expect to receive some special benefits. So, to make a start, my editor, Nathan, will email you in the coming week to set up a group Zoom call. Not every paying subscriber will want to take part, of course. But some may have questions to ask me or topics to raise for discussion—in ethics, politics, religion, or history. And others may just want to listen in. At the very least, I'd like to hear what you'd find most stimulating and useful.
I fully appreciate that not everyone can afford a paid subscription. That’s why I’ve told Nathan that, when he does introduce paywalls soon, he should keep my best work freely available.
In that way, paying subscribers will not only be special beneficiaries. They will also become partners in the enterprise of spreading my views more broadly.
Nigel
